Masala fried sweet potato (stir fried)


  • Coconut oil – 3 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
  • Urud dal – 2 tbsp
  • Green chilly – 2 nos (chopped)
  • Curry leaves – handful
  • Cashew nuts – 1/2 cup
  • Garlic cloves – 2 nos(big,crushed)
  • Onion – 1 big (finely chopped)
  • Salt – as needed
  • Red chilly powder – 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tbsp
  • Sweet potato – 2 cup(steamed and cubed)


In a heated pan add coconut oil and when the oil is hot, add mustard seeds. When the seeds starts to pop, add urud dal. Saute till dal turns light brown. Add green chilly and curry leaves. Stir for few seconds and add cashew nuts and garlic. When cashew changes colour, add onion and salt. Saute till golden brown. Now add chilly powder, turmeric powder and saute till fragrant. Now add the sweet potato cubes. Mix well or toss gently for a minute or till crispy crust forms.Enjoy hot !!!!
