How to make Pomfret curry with drumstick | Varutharacha muringakka manga avoli curry
Step 1
Ingredients
- Fresh grated coconut – 1.5 cup
- Coriander seeds – 2 tbsp
- Dried red chilli – 10 to 15 nos
- Curry leaves – few
Preparation
Dry roast all the above ingredients over low flame till it turns brown. Transfer it immediately from the pan and let it cool down.

- Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Preparation
Grind the roasted coconut mix and turmeric powder. Do not add any water, while grinding. Grind till the oil separates and you get a fine powder.
Step 3
Ingredients
- Coconut oil – 2 tbsp
- Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
- Fenugreek seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Water – 2 cups
- Pomfret – 1 kg (sliced)
- Raw mango – 2 to 3 nos (medium-size ,cut into small long pieces)
- Drum stick – 2 nos (cut into 2 inch pieces and split into half)
- Curry leaves – handful
- Salt – as needed
Preparation
Into a pan add oil and once the oil is hot, add mustard seeds. When the seeds start to pop, add the ground mix and water. Water should be just enough to cover the fish or according to the gravy you need. Add salt as per taste, curry leaves, drum stick and mix well. Now add fish pieces. Cover and cook over low flame.Do not stir the curry as it will breaks the fish pieces. Cook till the gravy is thickened. When it reaches the required consistency turn off the flame and pour a tablespoon of coconut oil. Garnish it with curry leaves and serve hot.
