    Umm Ali (Easy Recipe with Croissants)

    We are sharing an Egyptian Dessert recipe Umm Ali (Oumm Ali or Om Ali) sometimes Omali or An Egyptian Bread Pudding made with croissants. This dish is favorite among all the age groups due to its soft texture and the correct amount of sweetness. We have shown all the steps which would help you in baking the perfect Umm Ali.

    Step 1 (Whipping cream for Umm Ali)

    Ingredients

    • Whipping cream – 1 1/2 cup
    • Vanilla flavor – 1/2 tsp
    • Sugar – 2 tbsp

    Preparation

    In a mixing bowl, add cream, sugar and vanilla flavor. Whip it for about 2 minutes or till creamy (till you get soft peaks).

    Step 2 (Preparing Milk For Umm Ali)

    Ingredients

    • Milk – 750 ml
    • Cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp
    • Cinnamon powder – 1/2 tsp
    • Condensed milk – 100 gm
    • Vanilla flavor – 1┬átsp
    • Sugar – 1 cup

    Preparation

    Mix all the ingredients together. Bring it to boil. Continue boiling over low flame for 5 minutes.

    Step 3 (Layering And Baking Umm Ali)

    Ingredients

    • Croissants – 7 to 8 nos
    • Palmiers – 4 nos
    • Desiccated coconut powder – 4 tbsp
    • Pista slices – 4 tbsp
    • Walnut slices – 4 tbsp
    • Cashew nut slices – 4 tbsp
    • Almond slices – 4 tbsp
    • Raisins – 4 tbsp

    Preparation

    In a baking tray, first, make a layer of croissants (cut into small pieces). Add a layer of dry fruits and coconut on the croissants layer. Now add a layer of palmiers/ puff pastry/ biscuits (Khari biscuits). Otherwise, use croissants itself to make the second layer. Repeat layering with dry fruits and coconut. Finally, make a layer of croissants on top. Pour the boiled milk prepared in step 2. Press gently to set them. Spread a layer of whipped cream (step 1) on the top. Preheat the oven for 10 minutes to 190 degree Celsius. Bake for about 5 minutes or till the top part turns golden in color. Garnish it with some dry fruits. Keep it warm while serving. Enjoy the Umm Ali!!

    Here I used 30×21 cms oval-shaped tray. 2 ltr capacity with a depth of about 6 cm
